The Partnership
Cork City Partnership is a local development company operating under the National Development Plan. The Partnership brings together Local Communities, Government Bodies, the Social Partners and Elected Public Representatives in partnership approaches at local level.
The Work
The Partnership aims to counter disadvantage, promote equality and foster social inclusion and economic inclusion, through supporting communities that work collectively to meet local needs and who are committed to maximising the potential of their areas.
The Services
Community
We encourage communities and voluntary organisations to join in collective decision making thus strengthening their voice.
We provide help in ensuring that resources reach those most in need.
Unemployed
Through our seven local offices and our base in Blackpool Park we provide:
- career guidance, information and practical job search support for people looking for work
- personal mentoring support to people who are interested in self employment
Education
We work with local primary and post-primary schools to develop responses to specific issues such as underachievement in education.
We support the inclusion of Traveller children / students in education.
We promote the participation of adults in education particularly in the area of Community-based education.
We support the rehabilitation of ex-offenders.
We provide financial assistance for further and higher education students who are experiencing financial difficulties whilst attending college.
The People
The Partnership is managed by an independent Board of Directors made up of 23 representatives from voluntary and community groups, statutory organisations, trade union and employer representatives and local elected representatives under the Chairmanship of Community Director, Maurice MacCarthy.
Through our Community Development, Education and Services to the Unemployed Sub-Committees and Advisory Councils we access skills and resources to tackle exclusion and alleviate social disadvantage.
